FINAL REVIEW
What was something we discussed in class that will relate to your life or career? How?
I think that there are two things from this Statistics and Probability class that I will use in my career. One of these is the different types of surveys. The career that I desire to go into is nursing, and I have already begun to read up on some of the mathematical problems and basic psychological information that I will need to master. While reading up on these two factors, I discovered how many of them included different types of surveys that were taken. In the mathematical questions, each one would included how the data was collected when stating which kind of survey the individuals used. Within the psychological information portion, it was necessary to know this information. I also described what a placebo effect was, as it had a relationship with the brain as well as statistics. Another thing that I will take from this class is how to solve and arrange basic ratios. A very large amount of medical math has to do with comparing weight to the amount of medicine a patient can receive. The proportions are very complex and consist of many steps, and this class helped me with the basic knowledge of how to begin these ratio and probability problems. The two things that I will take away from this Statistics and Probability class that I will use in my career are the different types of surveys and the solving and formation of ratios and probabilities.
If you were to take this class again, or take another Statistics class in college, how might you approach it differently?
In less than a month I will be beginning another Statistics class that I will complete for college credit. I plan to approach that class a little different than how I approached this one. I would have to conclude that the major difference is how I took notes. The notes that I took for this high school class were based greatly around the content and formulas, rather than examples. While taking notes for my future college statistics class, I will look back at my notes from this class, but I will try to write down more examples so I can have a clearer understanding of the content and how it all relates to one another. That was my biggest struggle in this class this year, I could not relate the information together. I would try to complete problems, but would get lost because I could not remember which formula came next. The approach that I will take when beginning my college course is to take notes that contain a few more examples to help me connect the content.
